Extreme weather events have been on a sharp rise in recent years. We are profoundly concerned about the grave impact that climate change has on all our lives and activities. We want to mitigate the impact of climate change and to ensure a sustainable environment for generations to come. Achieving these goals requires our greatest efforts to enable a swift transition to net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

CAJ will work closely with responsible investors to urge companies that emit large amounts of greenhouse gases. Through shareholder advocacy, we will ask targeted companies to review their business plans and strategies to reduce their emissions. These companies need to demonstrate Credible Translon Plans and concrete actions that are in line with the Paris Agreement goal to limit global temperature rise to within 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

We believe that such corporate action is central to Japanese industries’ continued long-term global competitiveness and increase in future corporate value amid the global decarbonization trend. As the saying goes, “We borrow the earth from our children.” We hope that CAJ’s activities will contribute to a speedy and just transition to net zero.
