Who We Are
CAJ is a shareholder advocacy organization working to accelerate the transition to net zero. We are a not-for-profit based in Tokyo, engaging with leading Japanese companies on climate change. Seeking to be a driving force in the business ecosystem, we will fulfill our mission and realize our vision.
CAJ'S MISSION
Driving impactful actions across japanese companies to address the climate crisis
We do this by working with institutional investors to foster constructive dialogue with high emitting companies to ensure that a safe and thriving planet forms the bedrock of long-term corporate value.
Serving as a hub in Tokyo, we collaborate with international and domestic value-aligned stakeholders to influence Japanese policy, regulatory bodies and industry associations to advocate for science-based climate transition plans and steer Japan towards a net zero economy.
CAJ'S VISION
Japan as a leader in climate solutions for the people and planet to thrive.
Climate impacts have been intensifying around the world, increasing vulnerability of social and ecological systems. We are in a critical decade where the carbon budget is running out to keep global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees to prevent irreversible impacts to our planet.
We believe Japan can show leadership in enabling social and technological shifts required to achieve a net zero economy. Amplifying efforts with global stakeholders, CAJ will accelerate the transition to a prosperous decarbonized society to hand over a safe and just environment for generations to come.
The CAJ logo
CAJ’s logo is based on the motif of the sun, water, wind, earth, and plants. These elements are renewable energy sources—which play an important role in combating climate change and are central to the global ecosystem—along with plants that absorb carbon dioxide that is emitted from the atmosphere.
