Climate change poses a serious threat to our world today. The increased frequency and severity of hazardous events are causing catastrophic impacts on our communities and businesses.
To address the climate crisis, the international community has agreed to take measures to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Climate governance to achieve 1.5°C is becoming an integral part of industrial and trade policy. For multinational corporations, their decarbonization performance directly impacts business competitiveness.
As a shareholder, Corporate Action Japan asks high-emitting companies for effective decarbonization strategies. During the transition to a decarbonized society, we facilitate dialogue with companies on climate risks and opportunities from the perspective of mid to long-term shareholder value creation. We also reach out to policymakers with an interest in balancing economic security and sustainability to protect the global competitiveness of Japanese industries.
